  • Katie Jones Rowing Coach

    Katie Jones

Katie brings encouragement and fun to all areas of NCRC.  She helps with everything from boat maintenance and coaching to season planning.  Katie studied human development and nursing. She also works at Women’s hospital as a labor and delivery nurse.  Katie loves coaching and creating community around the sport of rowing. She trained alongside Scott at Community Rowing where she rowed with CRI's competitive women's team. Scott and Katie can occasionally be seen rowing a double on Lake Higgins, and love to race together in regattas.

  • Scott Jones

    Co-Founder | Coach

Scott received a B.A. in business with an entrepreneurial emphasis.  He left this field to pursue medicine for a period of time while exploring where his passion's lie.  He is extremely dedicated with a creative mind that loves detail, and leaves no stone unturned. He believes rowing is a sport that teaches people to believe in themselves. Scott spent a year in Boston, immersed in a yearlong fellowship program offered through Community Rowing Inc. (CRI).  He loves to learn from the best and is always seeking advice from people and organizations that are setting the standard of excellence for others.

  • Ryan Lapierre

    Coach

Ryan is one of our alumni rowers and has been with us since the very beginning of NCRC. He was in one of our first boats to qualify for nationals! He works as an electrician and coach for us. He brings his expertise of the sport to coaching the development team. He is still an avid rower and you just may see him cruising town with his boat on top of his Honda Civic or putting in the work as he stacks up kilometers on Lake Higgins in his single.

  • David Munro

    Coach

David started rowing with our adult program last summer and jumped right in and helps with all aspects of NCRC. David has lived overseas for a significant part of his life and he speaks 3 languages!! He is trained in software engineering and spent most of his time abroad in Israel and Switzerland working with the UN and the Baha'i Faith Community. David continues to enjoy rowing with our adult program and competing with Scott in the double.

  • Burt Whicker

    Coach

Burt is an inspiration to us all. He is the Head Coach for High Point University’s rowing team, and we are lucky to have him coaching with us. Burt has many stories and life adventures that he brings with him.  He can fix nearly any issue with a boat and approaches coaching from a very scientific perspective. Burt brings out the best in athletes and challenges them to go beyond self perceived limits. We all want to be like Burt when we grow up.
